Project Overview

Although Indigenous homelessness is recognized to be at crisis levels and the pathways into homelessness may be different across Nations, little attention has been given to understanding and exploring the Métis experience in terms of homelessness. Our research project driven by the research priorities of the Métis Nation of Ontario seeks to address this knowledge gap by collecting and learning the stories of Métis Youth experiencing or having experienced homelessness. These stories will shine a light on where the MNO may be able to adapt or expand existing programs and services for MNO Citizens to prevent youth entering into, and support their exit out of homelessness. This research will benefit MNO Citizens and the Métis community in Ontario and more broadly through relationships with governing members across the Métis Nation.
