Project Overview
The Making the Shift Youth Homelessness Prevention Awards, sponsored by Canada Life and Making the Shift, will become a national platform to identify and showcase innovative prevention-based youth homelessness models and practices in Canada. The program will identify two recipients annually (Canadian organizations working with youth at risk of and/or experiencing homelessness) in the following areas of the Making the Shift agenda: 1) Early Intervention 2) Sustained Exits from Homelessness We will also develop a special category specific to key learnings and failures from organizations and communities that have attempted to implement prevention programs and interventions, as part of our mapping of the barriers that impede prevention. The program will help us fill an important gap in the MtS research to impact cycle, which is “exploration” (helping us understand what is out there happening on the ground in communities) but it also plays across the other pillars of the research to impact cycle in important ways.
